“Sama Maschinenbau GmbH takes over the activities of the former Thuringia Netzsch”

Press release

In order to strengthen the Sacmi Group’s position as leading supplier to the tableware industry, Sacmi Whiteware has, through its subsidiary Sama, purchased all assets belonging to Thuringia Netzsch. Sacmi Whiteware has been supplying machines and complete plants to key players in the industry, such as Rosenthal, Wedgwood, Royal Doulton, BHS Tabletop, Tognana, Villeroy Boch etc., since 1997. The technology and skills developed by Thuringia Netzsch have been transferred directly to Sama, thus allowing it to provide customers of the purchased company with all necessary service and assistance and to expand its range of machines and spare parts immediately. This acquisition has given Sacmi the opportunity to position Sama as the ideal partner for the tableware industry – an industry that requires integrated production process solutions for everything from casting to robotized handling of the finished product. Solutions that safeguard traditional quality while enhancing efficiency and productivity. The new Sama Thuringia Netzsch set-up thus gives, on the one hand, a significant skills boost to a company with over a hundred years’ history and, on the other, allows that same company to draw on the R&D capabilities of a major Group like Sacmi – the world leader in ceramic technology with a consolidated turnover of € 750 million. The entire Sama management team, in the persons of Gunther Sothje, Gherard Seitz and Karl Heinz Brauer, was right at the forefront of both the takeover operation and the drawing up of an ambitious industrial plan that aims to launch the Sacmi Whiteware division towards total sales of € 75,000,000 in 2005.
