Betta Sanitaryware – South Africa

Investment in technology continues

In 2002 Betta Sanitaryware achieved levels of performance and quality that, once again, outstripped even the most optimistic forecasts. Ongoing development of new products, plus the perfection of existing ones in terms of quality, practicality and observance of standards, has allowed Betta to improve its market position considerably in both South Africa and neighbouring countries. The excellent price/quality ratio obtained from the above efforts has resulted in an “explosion” of sales: demand, in fact, now equals the new plant output capacity of 1,200,000 pcs/year. This year Betta has - as in previous years - invested in new machinery in order to improve efficiency. A forth Gaiotto glazing robot has been installed, as has a fifth ALS150 high pressure casting battery for washbasins; a seventh AVE040 multi-mould high pressure casting bench for WCs is soon to be installed too. Moreover, Betta has purchased a robotized machine to glaze WC siphons and a workstation with two single-mould high pressure casting units for WCs with stick-on rim. Both these new machines, presented at the recent Rimini-held Tecnargilla 2002 fair, clearly illustrate the exceptionally high levels of automation that Betta applies to its sanitaryware production operations. All this reinforces Betta’s position as one of the few sanitaryware producers in the world to make full use of new techniques and technologies. As a result Betta’s customers can count on ever-more consistent quality in both the production process and, of course, the final product - a quality that is being continually upgraded. The market has responded positively to Betta’s efforts: it’s no coincidence that demand for products at the medium-high end of the range - items which were, up until now, imported - is on the increase. That’s why the production plant now employs new stick-on rim WC casting units such as the AVM150.
