Caroma strengthens its partnership with the Sacmi Group

New Gaiotto glazing plant started up successfully

Caroma, the Australian sanitaryware producer belonging to the Australian GWA Intern. Ltd industrial and financial group, has just started up - to the customer’s full satisfaction - a new glazing plant featuring two Gaiotto GA2000 9-axis robots at its plant on the outskirts of Sydney.

This new integrated glazing centre interfaces, via a handling robot, with an automatic drier box piece unloading system, while a gantry system automatically loads the glazed pieces onto the kiln cars.

Extremely versatile, the model GA 2000 is reliable, precise and efficient: all qualities that ensure an excellent finish on complex products such as Caroma’s large back-to-wall WCs, together with a reduction in output waste.

These results have been made even more effective thanks to utilisation of the Mass Control system. Featuring ‘self-learning programming’, this system optimises delivery of the glaze.

Other key plant features include full glaze recovery thanks to the use of booths with dry filters.
For this plant, Caroma’s clearly-stated key objectives were reduced glaze waste and wash water booth contamination. Indeed, Caroma has always been active in the field of sustainable production and was one of the first sanitaryware producers in the world to consider low water consumption as a key WC performance indicator and invest heavily in the relative research and development.
