Castel San Pietro, 12th December: ribbon-cutting to inaugurate the new SACMI PACKAGING&CHOCOLATE headquarters

With sixty employees and total sales of around €20 million, this new headquarters will be the hub of the Group's confectionery wrapping machine operations. Inauguration to be attended by the Board of Directors, SACMI management and the Mayor of Castel San Pietro, Fausto Tinti

Another step forwards for Castel San Pietro's "packaging valley". On Wednesday 12th December the Mayor of Castel San Pietro, Fausto Tinti, will cut the ribbon to open a new confectionery wrapping hub, the latest facility to be inaugurated by SACMI Packaging&Chocolate (one of the business units belong to the Imola-based SACMI plant engineering group).

With sixty employees and annual sales touching €20 million, the SACMI Packaging&Chocolate wrapping division is moving from its previous site in Ozzano Emilia to via Ca’ Bianca 730 in Castel San Pietro (in the industrial area, just off the A14 motorway exit). SACMI Packaging&Chocolate's manager, Giovanni Campolungo, explains the reasons behind the move: "SACMI's strategy in this business involves a far-reaching technology and facility investment plan. The decision to base operations in Castel San Pietro stems from the area's extensive primary packaging and wrapping technology know-how".

The ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. It will be attended by the mayor Fausto Tinti and - to underline just how important this latest facility is for the parent company - the manager of the SACMI Packaging&Chocolate Business Unit, Giovanni Campolungo, and the President of SACMI, Paolo Mongardi. The building - fully modernised by SACMI and covering over 8,000 m2 - houses a workshop and an administration/services area and actually began hosting all the Group's wrapping division operations a few weeks ago. Moreover, as Paolo Mongardi points out, "it's been equipped and sized to allow further diversification and expansion of the Group in this sector".

"Tight teamwork with institutions, especially the local council, played a crucial role, with the Castel San Pietro public admin being particularly appreciative of the opportunities this new headquarters will offer the local economy", highlights President Mongardi. As of now, in fact, Castel San Pietro will be SACMI Packaging&Chocolate's research and development hub for new technological solutions that range from hermetic wrapping systems to new on-machine electronic devices that are bringing the confectionery industry up to manufacturing 4.0 standards.

The ribbon-cutting (which will be attended by public institutions, our own Board of Directors and various members of SACMI management) will be followed by a brief guided tour of the new facility.
