Sacmi Automation IGV automatic shuttle now operative

Following successful completion of testing and fine-tuning, the “inertial guidance” IGV shuttle pallet handling system is now fully operative. The system includes one IGV SACMI AUTOMATION pallet handling shuttle with an inertial odometric navigation system: this processes signals generated by the turning of the vehicle wheels (odometry) and emitted by a gyroscope. The result of this combination is a navigation system that requires no under-floor wiring, no optical or magnetic routing, no on-wall reflectors and allows transfer speeds of up to 1.2m/sec. Usually, to correct any shift away from the established route, passive magnets are fitted to the floor, in numbers that depend on the characteristics of the floor and the nature of the route. Here, instead, the modifications to be made to the workplace are reduced to a minimum and the system is highly flexible, allowing any route changes to be made with ease. The vehicle automatically manages the signals from the palletization line, picks up the prepared pallets and transfers them to the packaging line. Completing the plant is an automatic production control system which interfaces with the AS400 control unit, allowing automatic application of pallet cards: these provide all the identification information required by company standards (product name, size, production plant etc.). The system also gathers production statistics in a database, which is periodically sent to the company processing system. The plant can be visited. SACMI AUTOMATION technicians are at your disposal should you require more detailed information.
