The Eczacibasi Group, a leading Turkish company and now a leading multinational building materials provider present on markets with its Vitra, Villeroy & Boch and Engers Keramik brands, has commissioned three major investments from Sacmi Imola, some of which are already fully operative.
For example, an all new top-of-the-range technical porcelain tile production line, fully supplied by the Sacmi Group, is already working at the Bozoyuk plant in Turkey. The body preparation department includes a 3600-litre-per-hour spray dryer that can also produce coloured bodies, while the pressing department features a PH 6500 press, complete with EVA984 drier, a match that has become a best seller for the production of 600x600 mm and larger porcelain tiles. It should also be pointed out that this plant can produce the mega 900x900 and 750x1500 mm formats, making Vitra the only Turkish firm currently able to offer such an extensive format range. Completing the order is the 75.6 m long FMS2230 kiln, equipped with several devices for improved firing curve control and enhanced consumption efficiency. Also included on the plant is a sorting line with a combi tray/wrap-around packer. Moreover, Vitra has seen fit to equip the EVA984 drier with the inverter/hygrometer system, an important innovation that allows perfect machine adjustment according to product moisture content, thus ensuring considerable energy savings.
Also up and running is the plant at Vitra Plitka, a new member-firm of the Turkish group located in the town of Serpukhov, 100 km south of Moscow. Part of the group’s wider international expansion strategy, this plant was officially inaugurated on 7th October 2011, an event attended by high ranking public figures that included Turkey’s ambassador to Russia. Able to produce 3.2 million square metres of ceramic tiles per year, the plant consists entirely of Sacmi machines (some of which have come from the Eczacibasi Group’s Irish facility). The 3600 litres/hour spray drier is brand new though, as are the brand new sorting line and several complementary machines, not to mention the 86-metre FMS175 kiln.
Last but not least, Sacmi machines for the Eczacibasi group’s German plant, Villeroy & Boch, have been shipped. This order consists of a PH5000L press and relative 5-channel 145-metre EM5 horizontal drier with a 3070 mm wide infeed, a machine designed and built by Sacmi Forni specifically for the Eczacibasi Group. The machines supplied by Sacmi will complete the existing plant at Merzig, the goal being to produce top-of-the-range technical porcelain ceramic in keeping with group strategy. In this case too the size range is quite extensive and products as large as 450x900 mm can be made.
The long-standing partnership between the Sacmi and Eczacibasi groups continues, then, to go from strength to strength and is set to provide many more years of mutual satisfaction as both companies set about achieving the shared goals of ever-better product and service quality.
