Farr Ceramics – Bangladesh: Sacmi completes porcelain plate plant expansion phase

New spray-dried pressed powder tableware production line now up and running.

Farr Ceramics is the leading hard porcelain tableware producer in Bangladesh.

Little more than 5 years after Sacmi completed the first phase of the plant.  Farr has decided to double output by using Sacmi-developed isostatic spray dried powder pressing technology.

This doubling includes the spray drying department, 2 integrated two-head isostatic pressing units LPP-2S-38/2 complete with automatic finishing OFM, a cup production line NCC-2-285-124 and automatic product glazing units MONO T10 built at the Sama plants in Weissenstadt, Germany.

Output is fed into a new car-type tunnel kiln tunnel, produced by Riedhammer of Nuremburg, a Sacmi company.

The kiln, which features high-efficiency burners for the high temperature firing of porcelain in a reducing atmosphere, is a TST model, 56 metres long and with an effective width of 2100 mm.

This latest expansion allows the entire range of models to be produced, with the first-stage output capacity of 8 tons/day being boosted to the current 20 tons/day.

The first company in Bangladesh to introduce such advanced pressing technology and such high efficiency kilns, FARR leads the way not just in terms of quality but also in terms of the search for international market competitiveness.

The Chairman & Managing Director Farr Ceramics Ltd, Mr. Iftakher Uddin Farhad, also President of the “Bangladesh Ceramic Ware Manufacturers Association” was recently acknowledged as a “Commercial Important Person (CIP)” by the Bangladesh Trade & Commerce Minister for being “Bangladesh’s best porcelain tableware exporter” and also acknowledged as a “Commercial Important Person (CIP)” by Bangladesh Industry Minister for best Porcelain Tableware plant.
