Ceramica Flaminia, Ceramica Catalano and Gsi invest in dry glazing booths

Recovery of 99% of excess glaze, without any need to use water and, consequently, without having to install costly purification systems. All this is now a reality thanks to the dry glazing booths built by Gaiotto Automation, the Sacmi Group’s specialist designer and producer of automated systems for the glazing and handling of ceramic products.

Process automation solutions have been the focus of key investment choices by three leading sanitaryware companies in the Civita Castellana district. The first, Ceramica Flaminia – specialised in the production of Vitreous China and Fine Fire Clay sanitaryware – has ordered and installed a good five glazing booths: thanks to their very fine filtration system they work in a fully automated fashion without any need for water (unlike traditional glaze abatement systems) or purification systems alongside the production line.

The same choice was made by Ceramica Catalano and Gsi, who each purchased one system. The former, with a production plant located in Fabrica di Roma, has been a key player on the ‘Made in Italy’ sanitaryware market for almost 35 years. The latter has been doing business ‘only’ since 1990, yet, thanks to continuous research in R&D, has succeeded in gaining a secure position on the market with products distributed through over 1,000 outlets in over 40 countries.
Dry glazing offers the dual advantages of eco-compatibility – the recovered glaze is collected in a special tank and fed back into the production cycle – and the low maintenance costs that derive from the machine’s “self-cleaning” properties.
