General Ceramics (U.A.E.) and Sacmi Whiteware

New products - new investments

Sacmi has successfully completed the first stage of renewal and expansion of General Ceramics in UAE. This plant, based in the Emirate of Sharjah, has been in operation for 24 years and produces a range of sanitary ware to various international standards. It also produces a complementary range of acrylic bathtubs and shower trays. The company currently employs about 240 people. In 2000 the company renewed the management team and has since then invested in the renewal and extension of its production range; products have been given a complete design overhaul and investments have been made in new machinery so as to ensure more efficient production and higher quality products. The new machinery consists of: - 1 GVV casting bench for closed rim WCs, with drier to allow 2 castings per day. - 1 GLB casting bench for washbasins and pedestals, with drier to allow 2 castings per day. - 1 ESN cast piece drier which allows uniform drying of the pieces and features a rapid drying cycle with low energy consumption. - 1 SSK tunnel kiln for both first and second firing. In light of an anticipated increase in output General Ceramics has also extended its factory building; the company is also in the process of building new offices and showroom.
