Khazar Tile, Iran: ever-higher quality, now underfoot too

New Sacmi-supplied plant for the production of high grade floor tiles

In Iran, the Khazar Tile name and brand have always been synonymous with excellence, product quality and exquisite graphic design. To ensure both ongoing production-side and market-side evolution, 2011 saw the launch of a greenfield project for a new production facility fully dedicated to floor tiles; output will focus on large tiles and the plant will feature the flexibility needed to produce red body or glazed porcelain tiles.

This latest plant will, like its sister facilities, be located in northern Iran near the city of Rasht. It will produce over 5 million m2/year of extremely high quality floor tiles, thus allowing Khazar Tile to provide its customers with a comprehensive range of both wall and, now, floor products, with coordinated decorations and trims. Needless to say, these high grade tiles will be fully in keeping with the quality for which the brand has always been so distinguished.

To achieve this ambitious goal Khazar Tile has three fast, flexible and versatile 3500-ton presses, able to produce large-size red body floor or glazed porcelain floor tiles. These are used in conjunction with three 9 m high vertical driers, which offer an output performance much higher than that of their horizontal counterparts while consuming considerably less energy. Three glazing units with modern ultra-reliable application systems feed two 2850 mm wide, 105-metre long kilns, thus ensuring outstanding production lot flexibility. Highly advanced energy saving systems have been installed to cut energy costs which, even in Iran, continue to grow steadily. An automatic storage system with relative vehicles increases process efficiency and three latest-generation Nuova Fima sorting systems with Genusis lines handle sizes up to 120 cm with relative boxing and palletizing devices. State-of-the-art dust abatement systems have also been installed to minimise environmental impact in a region that is particularly attentive to this issue.

The plant will come on line in the summer of 2012 and output is expected to be absorbed by the market immediately.
