Lamosa goes for Sacmi’s new AVE 041

With over 100 years of success behind it, Lamosa is now Mexico’s market leader

The Lamosa Group dates back all the way to 1890, when a small brick-making company was founded in Monterrey, a central-northern Mexican city on the banks of the Rio Santa Catarina that is the capital of the Nuevo Leon region. Its main supporters were a group of North American shareholders. Even then, with its 75 workers, the Compañía Manufacturera de Ladrillos de Monterrey – as it was originally called – produced over 20 million pieces a year.

At present the Lamosa Group is both the leading company on the Mexican home market and a fast-growing force on several foreign markets. The main reason for this is the industrial reorganisation strategy that management began to implement about a year ago. Management, in fact, has clearly made technology its focus, signing a contract with Sacmi for the supply of an AVE 041 machine that will supply the warehouse with six thousand pieces a month.

A natural evolution of the AVE 040 (the world’s most successful WC high pressure casting machine), the new AVE 041 significantly reduces cycle times and enhances flexibility, increasing productivity – and , therefore, sales – by up to 40%. More specifically, this new model differs from its predecessor in that it features two robots, one for de-moulding and the other for static storage of the pieces. Injection flexibility means that the same line can make both American (siphon jet) and European-type WC bowls. This particular supply contract – successfully completed by Sacmi in close collaboration with the Lamosa technological team – also included full modernisation of the modelling department.
