Maintaining market leadership by converting quality into “perfection”

Key Sacmi-supplied machines, with a focus on large tiles, for Ceramica Arpa of Scandiano

Innovation, quality and the added value that comes from painstaking attention to detail: this is where the focus of Ceramica Arpa of Scandiano lies. The company has now launched an ambitious plant modernisation project and, to make sure the right technological choices are made, they’ve teamed up with Sacmi to ensure the provision of cutting-edge machines and systems.

There are two ‘pillars’ in this project. The first is the PH 3590 high tonnage press, perfect for pressing large sizes thanks to a wide inter-column clearance of 1,750 mm; this hydraulic press offers particularly outstanding performance when it comes to productivity, allowing Arpa to maintain and increase its lead in the still-growing large-size tile sector, now an essential part of the product range in companies, like Arpa, focussing on the high end of the market.

To make products of a particularly high unit value and meet the needs of ever-more demanding customers, Arpa has put its trust in Sacmi vision systems. This, then, is the second pillar of the project: an all-new system by Surface Inspection, the world leader in automatic ceramic tile quality control systems and now a member company of the Sacmi Group through the recent acquisition of Nuova Fima.

This is a decidedly future-oriented choice, as the company manager points out: “The quest for up-to-date solutions is essential if one is to remain market-competitive. This is particularly true for large tiles and surfaces intended to provide the chromatic effects of natural stone in as realistic a way as possible”.
Another outstanding result, then, for Sacmi, which is, day after day, proving its immense value as a strategic partner in the modernisation of the Sassuolo ceramic district. “Efficiency and quality”, observes Giuseppe Miselli, Sacmi’s area manager for Italy, “stem from attention to details. The value of this sort of investment lies, above all, in being able to achieve perfection with products that are already excellent. And that, in the end, is the key to maintaining market leadership”.
