Major new investments for KAI - Khan Asparuh

Bulgarian group goes for SACMI again to boost its output capacity

Installation and commissioning of a new production line at the Khan Omurtag plant in Shumen was completed end of March 2011.

Needless to say, all the main production process machines are made by SACMI: together, the modular mill, spray dryer, high tonnage press, vertical dryer and wide-mouthed roller kiln will boost production by over 2.5 million square metres a year and allow the production of porcelain tiles as large as 600 x 600 mm. This particular plant also includes some of the most modern, efficient energy recovery devices, such as re-utilisation of kiln fumes in the spray dryer (after purification treatment), the in-kiln SPR system to pre-heat the combustion air, the oil-air heat exchangers for the press and slip pumps etc. The project is implemented with the financial support of European Union and Republic of Bulgaria European regional development fund Operational program ā€œDevelopment of the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy 2007-2013ā€

At the Isperih plant, instead, further expansion is currently under way in the form of a modular MMC074 mill for the grinding department and, for the pressing area, a new press-dryer line suitable for the production of monoporosa, even in small sizes.

Despite the ongoing international economic recession, the KAI Group is close to achieving - thanks to an extensive product range that includes porcelain, technical, monoporosa and single-fire tiles - total sales of 20 million square metres a year, thus confirming its status as a key European player.
