New lines for packaging in American style cardboard boxes using a robot have been installed in LEVER UK and LEVER Hungary plants

A second production line for "Domestos" ("Lysoform" in Italy) has been up and running for just a few months at the Port Sunlight facility in the UK. An INPAK AR35 robot fills the cardboard boxes by picking up the bottles delivered by the infeed system at a rate of approx. 240 per minute. Because of the special shape of the bottles (with a tilted neck) and the way they need to be arranged inside the box, a double-auger infeed system is used. This eliminates the need to turn the bottles around before being picked up by the robot and placed, row by row, in the box. A third "multipurpose" packaging line has been installed at Lever s facility in Nyirbator (Hungary). The line is able to box detergents and other household products in bottles of all shapes and sizes. The packaging line includes an EC25 box former which operates at a production rate of 25 boxes per minute, an AR35 robot, an infeed system with multiple lane divider and a hot-melt applicator to close the boxes. Special care is taken to handle the new lightweight bottles at high speed as they are particularly delicate.
