PD Refractories: five times Sacmi

The Germany based Group chooses Sacmi once again to boost its capacity

Completed in October at Svitavy Plant, Czech Republic, the installation and commissioning of a new PHR 1008, the fifth fully automatic hydraulic press for hi-tech refractories supplied by SACMI in nine years. This press is mainly producing big silica blocks dedicated for the glass-industry.

The PHR 1008 is a new generation press featuring filling height up to 800mm and floating table technology thus ensuring a correct density distribution along brick thickness, an extremely important quality factor when pressing so high thickness products. Even if recently renewed, the 1000 ton press share all those successful characteristics which made SACMI one of the most reliable supplier for presses for refractory products.

Simplicity of use, reliability and flexibility are in fact ensured by the Profibus logic management system and the user-friendly interface. Quick size change is granted by means of the automatic hydro-mechanical mould centering and locking as well as the automatic mould replacement system. Constant quality control of the pressed products both in terms of geometric dimensions and densimetric properties is obtained thanks to the automatic filling system with vertical agitators and pressing algorithms refined in years of direct experience on the field.

The PD Refractories Group is a leading manufacturer and marketer of refractory products in Europe whose over 130 years lasting know-how has always been supported by continuous investments in machinery, research and development. Their wide range of products goes from normal fireclay bricks to clay-rich products such as mullite, bauxite and corundum, to special products such as chromium, zirconium and SiC-stones.
