Pietro Cassani appointed President of Acimac

Official election to take place on 13th June

Following the proposal of the nominating Commission, the Board of Acimac (the Italian Ceramic Machinery and Equipment Manufacturer’s Association), which met on the morning of 19th March, has appointed Pietro Cassani the new President designate of the association for the four-year period 2008-2012.
Pietro Cassani, aged 39, is married with three children, This year he also became General Manager of Sacmi Imola; this is the first time a member of the company has also been made President of Acimac.
Previously, Cassani spent two years as General Manager of Sacmi’s Whiteware division. Prior to that, from 2003 to 2006, Cassani was managing director and general manager of System, based in Fiorano Modenese. From 2000 to 2003, instead, he covered the position of managing director at Ceramiche Atlas Concorde in Spezzano (Modena, Italy).
Imola born and bred, the new President designate of Acimac – after obtaining his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bologna and a Master in Business Administration at the Bocconi University of Milan – began a career in Sacmi Imola where, from 1995 to 1999, he was area manager.
"The appointment of a young, brilliant and proficient manager like Pietro Cassani”, says Fausto Tarozzi, spokesman of the nomination Commission to which Ivanno Ligabue and Franco Stefani also belong, “proved popular with many of the associated entrepreneurs and the entire Board of Directors, who voted for him unanimously”.
This prestige appointment underlines just how strong and compact Acimac is, an association that brings together successful companies, large medium or small as they may be, and unites them with the shared goals of innovating and providing customers with cutting-edge technological solutions all over the world".
During the next Board meeting the President designate will present the programme he intends to follow during his mandate. The official election will take place during the annual General Assembly, to be held in Baggiovara (Modena) at Acimac head offices, on 13th June.
Pietro Cassani will be the sixth president of Acimac: the previous presidents were Pierluigi Ponzoni (Lema, from 2004 to 2008); Franco Stefani (System, from 2000 to 2004); Ivanno Ligabue (LB from 1996 to 2000); the late Mauro Poppi (from 1992 to 1996) and Fausto Tarozzi (Siti-B&T, from 1988 to 1992).
