Poland: new Valdi Ceramica plant inaugurated

SACMI provides cutting-edge porcelain tile production technology

Last Friday 13th May saw the inauguration - attended by more than 500 guests, including several  key figures from the worlds of politics, associations and social affairs - of the new Valdi Ceramica plant, capable of producing 4 million square metres a year of very high quality porcelain tiles.

The renewed office and showroom facilities, with their alternating glass and shiny black tile façades, immediately highlight the owners’ attentiveness to style and creativity. This quest for beauty and perfection is, of course, also evident in the choice of production systems and in product development – so much so, in fact, that some tile series have already won international acknowledgement.

The plant has actually been operative for some months and, needless to say, the SACMI lines have been fully tested. Raw material processing, clay blunging and continuous grinding are carried out in a separate factory next to the main plant building. The latter houses the spray dryer, powder storage and the two production lines that feed into the two single-layer wide-mouthed 115 metre long kilns. The most innovative line, for technical and glazed tiles, employs Continua technology, which consists of powder feeders (base and coloured), pre-compactor, a computer-controlled cutting machine, multiple wet and dry decorating devices, a PH7500 press and a horizontal dryer, allowing production of tiles up to 1200 x 1200 mm. The most traditional line, for glazed tiles, consists of a PH5000XXL press and an EVA984 vertical dryer. Valdi Ceramica’s plant has been conceived to allow extensive creativity in terms of decoration and tile size/thickness and reflects the company’s ‘Design by Innovation’ motto perfectly.

The elegant inauguration ceremony offered the perfect occasion to thank the owner, Mr. Waldemar Dzionek, for his evident far-sightedness, determination and the trust placed in SACMI: Valdi Ceramica is the first non-Italian firm to install the Continua line outside Italy and the first of many more soon to follow.
