Portuguese company Pavigres looks to the future

New Sacmi-supplied production line with PH5000L press and EVA993 drier

The new Sacmi-built production line installed in March at Pavigres, Portugal, for large-size tiles is now up and running at full capacity. Founded in 1978, this Portuguese company makes porcelain floor tiles and has an impressive customer portfolio that includes schools, hospitals, airports and stations.

This innovative line, supplied by Sacmi, consists of a high-tonnage PH5000L press from the Imola series, which, among other things, stands out on account of innovative design, flexibility, user-friendliness and advanced control software. With an inter-column clearance of 1750 mm this press is particularly suitable for the production of large tiles. In Pavigres it will initially be processing 600x600 tiles on a two-outlet format plus 450x900 tiles, already in production; in the near future, though, it will also be handling even larger tiles, such as the 600x1200.

In addition to the press Sacmi has also supplied the Portuguese company with an EVA993 vertical drier on which a great deal of attention was, during the design stage, focussed on reducing energy consumption. More specifically, the drier features an interesting control kit that – thanks to a hygrometer which monitors body moisture content and automatic inverter-controlled adjustment of exhausted air flow rates to the chimney – optimises consumption during the various process phases.
