SACMI: an innovative range of complete-cycle machines for the production of roof tiles and bricks

at the Röben ceramic factory

SACMI, following its recent entry onto the brick market with the new Heavy Clay division, is currently in the process of starting up one of the world’s biggest (perhaps the biggest) roof tile plants at the Röben ceramic factory in Poland. Designed to produce large roof tiles and trims of outstanding quality, this line wet-presses the tiles in plaster moulds to provide a perfect surface and hi-tech tile interlocking. Its annual output rate reaching 40 million pieces is unusual for this technology. SACMI has installed continuous driers for both tiles and trims, machines characterised by low maintenance and contained electrical/thermal costs; they employ cone-like fixed distributors with inverter-controlled drive units. The kiln, which features single-layer technology (roof tiles are arranged vertically), is the largest of its kind with a 8.25-metre wide infeed and a length of 215.6 m.
SACMI, thanks to its extensive experience in fine ceramic plant engineering, can count on far-reaching know-how in related industries, thus allowing its new plants to set new standards in terms of quality, consumption and maintenance costs.
SACMI is also engaged in the renovation of existing brick production lines, a field that really puts the technical skills of machine manufacturers to the test. This involvement recently saw the start-up (at Donati ceramics in Italy) of a masonry brick kiln that has broken every productivity record. With its 10.5-hour cycle it has raised the daily output of a 4.6-metre kiln to a staggering 1300 t/day, while enhancing quality and cutting consumption.
SACMI is currently installing other kilns, in Italy and other countries, for soft-pasta wall bricks, for roof tiles with single-layer technology and for other building materials; just as importantly, these solutions can be customised to maximise productivity whatever the application.
