Sacmi Beverage heads for Silicon Valley

Sacmi packaging and bottling solutions to be showcased at Unified Wine & Grape in Sacramento

Sacramento, California. A land of fine wines, supplying a market that is growing fast in terms of both production and consumption. It is here, in the capital of the US State of California, that the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium will be held from 24th to 26th January 2012, offering the perfect opportunity to see how things in the industry are moving and, above all, to compare the technology and innovation being provided by major machine producers such as Sacmi Beverage, which leads the world in drinks bottling and packaging technology.

Various solutions will be showcased by the Group (which will be participating in the event with its own sales agent). To start with, there’ll be Sacmi Pakim, the Sacmi Group company specializing in packaging technology such as the all-new MONOBIB, an integrated compact unit that brings together all the filling and packaging functions needed to produce “Bag in Box” packs: it consists of a box former with hot melt closure, a bag filler and a further hot melt box sealer. Suitable for wine, food oil and water, it offers several advantages, such as improved preservation of the product which never comes into contact with the air.

From MONOBIB – which in wine-specific applications produces up to six hundred 3-litre packs an hour – to LINEAR, another innovative Sacmi Pakim machine for the production of Bag in Box packages that offers outstanding preservation of wine, food oil and water yet also fruit juices, concentrates, detergents and so on as they never come into contact with air. An ‘ultra clean’ model that offers excellent output rates ranging from 820 bags per hour (1.5-litre format) to 300 bags per hour (in the larger 20-litre format).

And Sacmi Pakim has plenty more to offer: FILL BAG is an automated system that cuts, forms and fills “bag in box” containers, supplied to market complete with a product integrity guarantee (oxygen absorption less than 0.1 PPM).  Suitable for the production of containers from 1.5 to 25 litres, FILL BAG, can reach 500 pieces per hour with the 3-litre format.
Then come the fillers, which at Sacmi means SOLO-MAS, an exclusive, patented technology that allows tens of filler valves (normally controlled by as many dedicated flow meters) to be controlled by a single flow meter which controls a master valve: the quantity of bottled liquid is thus controlled by a single flow meter that calculates the necessary time and updates it at every cycle, with machine management savings (thanks to the absence of other flow meters) in the order of thousands of Euros.

These cutting-edge solutions are essential to the Group’s growing role as a sole provider of turnkey plants for the beverage industry covering everything from raw materials to the bottle and storage. They are completed and complemented by a comprehensive range of labelling and end-of-line units, from the OPERA RFST series by Sacmi Verona, which provides unbeatable flexibility, modularity and efficiency, to robotized end-of-line solutions such as the MARIS 1 K by Sacmi Packaging – a ‘multi-level’ palletizer able to handle up to 300 pallets per hour - plus laser-guided vehicles (LGVs) for pallet handling; the latter are developed by Sima, a Sacmi Group company specialising in the design and production of industrial laser-guided handling systems that provides highly sophisticated, high-performance solutions together with other systems for internal transport, warehousing and highly personalised storage, all capable of meeting even the most demanding production requirements.
