Sacmi Heavy Clay heads for Batimatec in Algiers

From burners to drying, all the latest brick and roof tile production technology

This year too, Sacmi is heading for Batimatec, a top international fair focussing on construction, building materials and public works to be held in Algiers from 9th to 13th May. This is a key appointment for the industry: the last edition attracted over 680 exhibiting companies - 300 from other countries - and 30,000 professional visitors. It goes without saying that Sacmi’s Heavy Clay Division aims to be there in force, and will be attending this North African fair in the wake of recent plant installations in Romania and Trinidad, where a total three complete plants were successfully tested and started up.

Sacmi will be presenting the Algerian market with some important new innovations that raise brick-making technology to a whole new level. Among these, pride of place goes to the new line of burners, specifically designed by Sacmi for tunnel kilns and fully made in-company; of particular interest are the new high-speed, high-power PL-9 lateral burners, which feature a very wide adjustment range indeed (from 1 to 25 Nm3/h of natural gas). Even our traditional roof burners now provide, following extensive redesign by Sacmi, modular regulation, which allows the user to adjust flame height and programme times to meet the needs of different firing scenarios.

With regard to drying, Sacmi proposes, alongside the traditional hanging rack tunnel for drying hollow bricks and car tunnel driers for face bricks and breeze blocks, an innovative multi-level tunnel roller drier: this machine is particularly suitable for drying flat products such as standard roof tiles, ridge/channel roof tiles and ventilated facades. With cycle times lasting from two to four hours, it’s possible to dry large roof tiles up to 8.5 pcs/m2 and ventilated facade sections up to 3 m long without any deformation whatsoever. This technology is gaining ground very quickly among the world’s major ventilated façade producers as the initial investment outlay is extremely contained compared to that needed with traditional tunnel driers.
