Innovation and farsightedness: these are the two main ‘ingredients’ that have led to the signing of a supply contract for a new complete plant for the manufacture of 250,000 tons/year of heavy clay construction material.
M. Mihoubi is a well-known entrepreneur who has businesses in numerous Algerian industries; now, following an in-depth market study regarding the potential for the use of construction materials in what is a fast-developing economy, he has decided to entrust the completion of this new facility to Sacmi. The decision was made following the latter’s presentation of a detailed, highly flexible, technical project that is, compared to the country’s usual standards, highly innovative.
The core of the project is the semi-rapid tunnel dryer: this combines the performance of the better-known carrier-type dryer with control systems to manage a modular process; such systems allow precision control of humidity and temperature during the drying stages, an aspect that cannot be controlled using standard contra-flow ventilation systems whether they are of the carrier or tunnel type.
The semi-rapid tunnel dryer offers numerous advantages, such as being able to manage widely differing product types (such as classic infill wall and floor bricks as well as load-bearing masonry blocks) and ensuring, whatever the product, the best possible process conditions at each drying stage.
The design also focusses on plant efficiency: management of routine and unscheduled maintenance is entrusted to an automatic computerised programmed maintenance system for each production department. Moreover, the dryer is built in such a way that there are no mechanisms inside the tunnel, allowing maintenance to be carried out from the exterior easily, comfortably and safely.
Thanks to the customer’s skilled technical team and the speed with which the building foundations have been constructed, initial assembly of this new manufacturing facility is already under way: a facility we are sure will boost the country’s construction material production standards significantly.
