Sacmi Imola receives Acimac Quality Mark Certification

The Series 2000 and Power presses comply with the strict technical requisites

Imola, 13th September 2005 – Sacmi Imola, the world’s leading designer-builder of machines and complete plants for the ceramic industry, has received the Acimac Quality Mark: promoted by the Italian Association of Ceramic Machine and Equipment Manufacturers, this mark certifies the quality and reliability of both machines and technologies. Both the Series 2000 and Power presses have passed strict controls carried out by TÜV Italia, the international certifying body chosen by Acimac to ensure that the mark is awarded professionally and accurately in compliance with Ceramic Machinery – Product Standard A/QM-01 ST 02. Presses produced by the Imola-based Group not only meet rigid technical standards: they also come with a warranty extension that lasts at least 18 months past the delivery date (and structural parts carry a 5-year warranty). As far as services are concerned, customers can count on the long-term supply of spare parts (guaranteed for at least 10 years from the date of contract) and rapid after-sales assistance.
An application has also been made for certification of the moulds made by SACMI MOLDS & DIES, for which the Acimac Quality Mark carries a 3-year structural parts warranty.
“The quality mark ensures greater transparency in the evaluation of supplies and the company’s product technical documentation”, comments Pietro Rivola, Deputy Manager of Sacmi Ceramics&Tiles. “The functional and production technical parameters and the services provided by suppliers are all tested according to homogeneous standards”.
Thanks to a complex system of scheduled, compulsory checks, the customer can be sure that the presses will maintain their quality standards over time.
Once an Acimac-associated company makes its application, the certification procedure begins with the setting up of an assessment team consisting of TÜV Italia inspectors and industry experts. The team carries out a preliminary inquiry, which also includes an in-company audit lasting several days, and then draws up a technical report. On the basis of this report and, following further inspection of company reference documents, the Quality Mark Committee decides whether or not to award it.
“For the Sacmi Group this quality mark offers customers further guarantees on the quality and reliability of services offered”, continues Rivola, “and provides Sacmi with yet more motivation for constant, consistent improvement. I’d like to point out that this quality mark introduces, where presses are concerned, a significant commitment on the part of the constructor as the warranty on the structural parts of the machine has now been extended to 5 years (as long as proper maintenance is carried out, of course). To meet that commitment Sacmi has already launched a whole series of activities aimed at ensuring quality throughout every stage of the production process”.
