Sacmi attends the Vietnam workshop

Sacmi attends the first training for technicians of local ceramic companies

On Friday 28th February a workshop was held in Vietnam. This event was attended by several Italian producers of machinery for the ceramic industry, Sacmi included, which presented some of the latest technological solutions. The workshop was the final phase of a training course designed for technicians working in local tile companies. Organised by Acimac and Ice, the course took an in-depth look at all aspects of the production process, from body preparation to finished product packaging. This is the first time that Vietnam has hosted an initiative of the sort. With a tile output of some 95 million square metres (2001) - directed almost exclusively at the internal market - Vietnam is (after China and Indonesia) the third largest producer in the Far East and the eleventh largest in the world. The Vietnamese ceramic industry has expanded rapidly: in just 4 years output has more than quadrupled (in 1998 it was just 18 million square metres) and the increase in 2001 was, with respect to the previous year, a staggering 73%.
