Sacmi builds its ceramic future on innovation and quality

The Group responds to the challenge of globalisation

Continuous innovation of production processes and unique, lab-developed decorations applied to top-class ceramic: this, then, is the added value generated within Sacmi production plants. Sacmi, while presently in a position of dominance in the world market, has decided to meet the challenge of low-cost (and often low quality) Asian products by sharpening the edge it has in terms of quality.
This response features three new technologies, patented and already adopted in production plants: they go by the names of Monolithos, Twinpress and Continua. “Thanks to them”, says Claudio Marani, General Manager of the Sacmi Ceramics&Tiles Division, “we aim not just to maintain our leadership position but to reinforce it”. Monolithos forms a porcelain body that is full-body decorated directly on the press. Twinpress combines wet and dry decoration processes to meet the dual needs of high output and outstanding aesthetics, a goal that would be unattainable with traditional decorating systems. Continua, instead, produces, as the name implies, a continuous strip of ceramic that is decorated as per the producer’s needs and cut to the required size.
A good number of plants have already been installed: about twenty Monolithos, Twinpress and Continua units all together.
“Our strong point”, underlines Mr. Marani, “is know-how: our production and decoration techniques make our product not only exceptional but also virtually inimitable”.
