Sacmi cookware technology gaining ground in Latin America

New PHP 5000 for Mexican firm CINSA, the country’s leading tableware producer and a member company of the Saltillo Group to which Sacmi also supplies ceramic manufacturing technology.

A key player on the local tableware industry for over 80 years and the supplier of a complete range of high quality home cooking products, CINSA has now boosted its output capacity as regards non-stick, deep-draw, thick-wall articles. A member of the Saltillo Group – the Mexican giant that does business in the ceramic, tableware, construction and automotive sectors – CINSA has now purchased a new Sacmi-built PHP 5000 press, a machine at the very top of the range when it comes to highly efficient, reliable, energy-saving solutions for the cold drawing of aluminium articles.

The key features of the PHP 5000, installed at CINSA in last Autumn, are high pressing tonnage, controlled deformation of the aluminium and minimisation of energy consumption.

Now redesigned, the PHP 5000 is particularly suitable for manufacturing aluminium cookware with thick walls and depths of up to 190 mm. The increased vertical clearance of the mould, 1500 mm, improves distribution of pressing-induced strain and allows even deeper moulds to be used. With a pressing force of some 5000 tons, this machine also offers excellent flexibility thanks to a fast size changeover system and its ability to take both single-cavity moulds (to draw larger articles) and multi-cavity ones.
      
The characteristics common to all the presses in the PHP range (such as the preloaded structure that ensures greater rigidity and better geometric homogeneity), which have always won widespread customer acclaim, are now joined by further significant improvements. For example, the tank is now positioned directly on the machine body to optimise the hydraulic circuit and make the machine more compact. Moreover, the heart of the control circuit (the variable-delivery pump that feeds the pressure and flow multiplier) is configured to automatically adapt delivery rates to the instantaneous pressure requested by the pressing cylinder and so reduce the energy needed to run the machine and cool the oil to the indispensable minimum, thus ensuring outstandingly competitive energy performance.

This latest purchase – the first of this type for this Mexican company – reinforces what is a long-standing partnership between Sacmi and the Saltillo Group. Moreover, it follows the recent sale of two other Sacmi PHP 5000 presses on the continent. This confirms, then, that this part of the world is an economically dynamic one, ever-more attentive to quality and output efficiency and, therefore, carefully seeking out the best European cookware technology.
