Sacmi supplies its NIR systems to European large-scale distributor

From now on only perfect fruit to delight Swiss consumers

For the first time ever a leading European large-scale distributor has invested in NIR technology to conduct non-destructive quality testing of fresh fruits and vegetables

A sign that times are changing; not only in the presentations of conference speakers and  speakers at specialized trade shows but concretely in daily business life concerning the European large-scale distributor’s sales and marketing strategies.

This important European chain of supermarkets is stressing quality as the key to success, setting themselves apart from their competitors in order to reverse the drop in consumption the market sector has been facing over the last few years.

Up until today  seven of the twenty platforms possessed have been equipped with  SACMI NIR  CASE instruments. In the mean time, work with the Swiss ACW Agroscope Wadenswil  research center has begun to determine calibration of the main fruit species (melons, peaches, kiwifruit).

Along with the NIR CASE system, Sacmi is developing a platform for communication between the devices  which also allows calibrations to be transferred from one unit to another. The first stage of the project has been successfully completed and will be extended to all the group’s platforms by the end of the year.  From now on the Swiss will be able to enjoy the full-flavour of fruit!
