Sacmi to exhibit all-round ceramic product decoration technology at Cevisama 2016

The latest dry and wet decoration systems from the Sacmi Group are set to play a starring role in Valencia (1-5 February). Simultaneously, this period will also see a Continua+ line in operation at the nearby Sacmi Iberica branch at Castellón de la Plana

"Total" integration of pressing systems and dry/wet digital decoration technologies for the manufacture of ceramic products of the highest aesthetic value (in terms of resolution, depth and textured effects): this, in short, will be the focus of the Sacmi Group exhibition at the 2016 edition of Cevisama, the international Valencia-held fair expected to attract, from 1st to 5th February, over 76,000 visitors from 146 countries.


A major event not only for the Spanish market but also the entire Mediterranean area, this international fair dedicated to ceramics, sanitaryware, natural stone, raw materials and glazes will, in 2016, be opening up to technology providers. Several different solutions will be displayed in the Sacmi area (stand C55, Hall N2-P3) where visitors will be able to get a close look at the latest technological developments for ceramics, starting with digital decoration solutions.


These include the all-new DDG 075 for dry raw materials, characterized by Sacmi-patented technology that lets producers apply different types of ceramic powders with a very broad particle size, moisture and colour range. Designed to be installed on the glazing line, the machine consists of a series of independent decoration units, one per colour, inserted in sequence on a conveyor belt and controlled in a coordinated manner by graphic design software. This system lets users reproduce the patterns and three-dimensionality of natural materials, adding depth to the product and satisfying even the most sophisticated needs of manufacturers and designers alike.


Alongside dry digital decoration solutions, Sacmi-Intesa will be taking advantage of Cevisama to showcase the latest developments in the DHD series, the wet digital decorator in its "3.0" version. Equipped with Dimatix heads, this belongs to a new generation of ink-jet machines for the controlled application of inks and glazes, thus allowing the establishment of a fully digitalised glazing line, that extends the aesthetic potential of products even further. Hence the "Vela" and "Nebula" systems, the benchmark solutions for waterfall and airless applications respectively, both characterised by absolute control of the amount of applied glaze - even as viscosity and density change - and design features that ensure user-friendliness and long-lasting reliability.


L-CUBE mill lining parts made out of rubber and alumina, an automatic Flawmaster 5G inspection machine and a wide range of spare parts complete the solutions on show at the Spanish fair. The stand will also feature a large screen showing several high definition videos: of particular note is the one illustrating Sacmi’s ground-breaking Continua+ technology for the manufacture of large decorated ceramic slabs, a technology in which integration with Intesa digital decoration solutions for both dry and moist products – and the possibility of applying structural decoration at the same time as compaction – offers the key to making the most of the latest market developments. During Cevisama it will also be possible to visit the showroom at the Sacmi Iberica headquarters (in nearby Castellon de la Plana), featuring a fully operational Continua+ line complete with dry digital decorator and cutting machine producing large decorated slabs that can then be examined by potential customers.


Yet this Spanish event is not just limited to the world of tiles: Whiteware division sales staff will be out in force to welcome tableware and sanitaryware manufacturers visiting the fair and illustrate the latest products for 2016, especially as regards robotized glazing and high pressure casting.

The same can also be said for the Heavy
Clay division, whose technical and sales staff will be meeting brick and extruded ceramic producers and presenting the latest SACMI energy-saving innovations and the latest product developments, especially those with high added value such as roof tiles and ventilated façades.


After the Cevisama fair, Sacmi’s commitment on the Spanish market will continue at Qualicer, the world symposium on Ceramic Tile Quality to be held in Castellon on 8th and 9th February. Here, Sacmi will be giving a talk on “Digital decoration of ceramic slabs with very high chromatic quality”. Given by Andrea Bresciani, the manager of the Sacmi Ceramic Lab, the talk will illustrate an innovative process for decorating fired ceramic slabs via the digital ink-jet application of special UV-hardening ceramic inks. Application occurs on slabs taken from stock at ambient temperature and uses a special digital decorator version that boosts the aesthetic value of slabs significantly, combining the intrinsic advantages of this material (durability, hygiene, stability) with outstanding aesthetics and colour to allow penetration of new markets and goods sectors.
