Sama presents the “universal finisher” for tableware

The brand new OFM for automatic finishing of edges

Already widely tested by the market, the Sama robot for edge finishing represents the very latest in cutting-edge technology for tableware manufacturers. The German company, member of the Sacmi Group, now adds to its product range with a new machine; the OFM.

Able to handle pieces having an average radius of just 8 mm and with the edge at least 20 mm high (almost all tableware items fall within these parameters) the technology proposed by Sama has a truly universal application and looks set to become another leading product in strong demand by the main manufacturers in the industry. Exhibited at the 11th Ceramitec show in Munich (the international trade fair dedicated to machines and raw materials for the ceramics industry), the OFM machine aroused great interest among the visitors thanks to its simple and efficient operations.

The visitors to the show – who were able to see the OFM in operation during a demonstration – could clearly identify as one of the main strengths of this machine its solid and robust structure as well as its excellent performance in terms of productivity. The performance levels are particularly significant with round – or nearly round - pieces but are also impressive for pieces with other shapes. The result of tests carried out by Sama, in fact, show that productivity is always at least equal to and normally higher than that achieved using the robot.

Finally it is worth noting that to control the OFM no complex pre-programming operations are required and, with pieces having a diameter which falls within certain parameters, the machine operates entirely in automatic mode without the need for any particular settings. Naturally the OFM universal finishing machine can be used for finishing pieces made either with traditional casting technology or pressure casting.
