A brand new plant consisting of two independent production lines, with an output potential of over 8 million square metres a year, with clear ambitions of gaining major market shares, both at home and abroad.
This is Seramikanka, the newborn ceramic factory that is the fruit of courageous development plans by a group of Ankara-based investors. The plant, located near the town of Cifteler, just a few kilometres outside the Eskisehir ceramic district, consists of machines supplied entirely by Sacmi.
Right on the cutting edge of plant engineering, this production facility consists of a body preparation department equipped with two MTC054 mills, suitable for alumina grinding bodies. Then there are two ATM 65 and 52 spray dryers, the latter also being suitable for the production of coloured bodies. From here we move on to the pressing department, home to two PH2590 and two PH3590 presses: when it comes to performance, reliability and market success, both models constitute the jewel in the crown of the Sacmi press range. Four vertical dryers from the EVA 992 series complete the department.
Sacmi has also supplied the glazing and handling lines, the latter being equipped with automatic laser-guided vehicles. The firing section of the Seramikanka plant consists of two 134.4-metre FMS2850 kilns. There are also important new quality control features: in addition to traditional MASTER sorting lines with automatic palletizer – four of which are currently installed at the end of the line – Sacmi has also provided a general plant supervisor, capable of monitoring all production parameters, from raw materials to pallets leaving the sorting lines: this is the first system of its kind to be installed in Turkey.
The plant produces floor and wall tiles, as well as batches of technical and glazed porcelain tiles. Seramikanka’s management has also put its faith in the Sacmi Group’s experience with regard to steel structural parts, made by Sacmi Istanbul (in their production facility based in Bursa). Sacmi reconfirms, then, its vocation as a global partner for the tile industry, especially on the Turkish market, which has been growing constantly – quantitatively and qualitatively – for years.
