Simei: a close look at bottling technologies

From labellers to automatic fillers: Sacmi displays its wares at “FieraMilano”

The world consumes over six billion hectolitres of beverages of every kind - and consumption is on the up and up. This, then, is the backdrop to Simei 2007, the world’s biggest fair for machines dedicated to oenology and the production/packing of beverages, scheduled to take place at the “FieraMilano” trade fair centre in Rho, on the outskirts of Milan, from 13th to 17th November.

A not-to-be-missed event for Sacmi, which will be in Milan (Hall 15P, stand E01) with Group companies Sacmi Packaging, Labelling, Filling, Pakim, Fbr-Elpo and the Sacmi Imola Automation Division.

Various machines will be displayed on the Group’s 180 m2 display area. To begin with Fbr-Elpo - a specialist in the production of fruit and tomato processing machines, fillers and aseptic systems - will be presenting the AS-I1000/2 single-head aseptic filler, ideal for filling bags of up to 1000 litres, and a non-aseptic continuous-feed filler for the automatic filling of bags (3 – 25 litres) with fluids; this is designed to be inserted in the integrated, compact bag-in-box system by Sacmi Pakim.

Sacmi Pakim – a Group company specialised in packaging technologies – will be exhibiting the new “Monobib”, an integrated, compact unit that combines all filling and packaging functions for the production of bag-in-box packs; the Monobib consists of a box forming unit with hot-melt closure, bag filler and box closer (hot-melt again). Ideal for wine, food oils and water, it offers numerous advantages such as improved preservation of the product (which never comes into contact with the air). A Monobib for wine - suitable for the production of 3 litre bags at an output rate of 600 BIB/hour, 5 litre bags at 500 BIB/hour or 10 litre bags at 400 BIB/hour - will also be on show at Simei.

Sacmi Labelling, instead will display two labelling machines. The first is the Opera Self-Adhesive with HS 04 labelling stations for the application of self-adhesive labels on containers of any shape or material, perfect for high-quality performance even at high output rates. The second is the Opera Combi, which provides a perfect response to customers that need to apply several labels to one container at different output rates.

Then there is the EC40 HM by Sacmi Packaging, a new RSC carton (American model) forming machine. With an output rate of 40 packs per minute, it offers particularly innovative ergonomics and outstanding production flexibility.

Visitors will get the opportunity to see the Sacmi Imola EOS Aroma system, an electronic olfactory unit that can be used in the laboratory; this is especially suitable for analysing the quality of the olive oil ‘olfactory footprint’.
