Tecnargilla: the first two-yearly event to be held in Rimini from 1st to 5th October 2004

This next edition of the world’s biggest ceramic technology trade fair promises to be full of pleasant surprises

The first biennial edition of Tecnargilla – the world’s biggest ceramic/brick technology and commerce trade fair - will be held in Rimini from 1st to 5th October 2004. The dates for the coming edition of the event – which, up until 2002, was a three-yearly affair – were released a few days ago by its organisers Acimac (Associazione Costruttori Italiani Macchine e Attrezzature per Ceramica) and Rimini Fiera SpA. The Sacmi Group will, of course, be there, and shall be setting up a huge stand to ensure visitors get the opportunity to see all the latest innovative ceramic technology.
The organisers have promised that this coming Tecnargilla will include quite a few new changes. For example, there will be a new section called Claytech, dedicated to the brick industry, plus expansion of Kromatech, the section dedicated to colour technology, creativity and trends in ceramic that was inaugurated in 2002. What’s more, the whole Rimini trade fair facility has been enlarged, so Tecnargilla 2004 will be able to count on two new Halls, thus adding 13,000 m2 to the area available in 2002 (the trade fair district even has its own railway station). Even better, Tecnargilla 2004 will no longer be held from Tuesday to Saturday (i.e. on the same days as the Bologna-held Cersaie) but, instead, from Friday to Tuesday: so the two fairs will now overlap just for a weekend.
The decision to switch Tecnargilla to a two-yearly format – as made official last June by the President of Rimini Fiera SpA, Lorenzo Cagnoni, and the President of Acimac, Franco Stefani – stems from the need for ceramic companies to rationalise trade fair promotion via key “showcase” events capable of attracting international attention. In 2002 Tecnargilla attracted 801 exhibitors (244 of which were foreign, from 31 countries), offered a gross exhibition area of 80,000 square metres (+14.2% with respect to the previous 1999 edition) and drew a staggering 29,689 visitors (+7% with respect to 1999) of which 10,697 were visiting from a total of 84 foreign countries.
