The International “Aldo Villa” Award

Bologna – CERSAIE - 30/09/2003

In 1988 the Italian Ceramic Society instituted a special award in remembrance of the engineer Aldo Villa, first president of the association and a figure of both national and international renown, as well as General Manager of Sacmi Imola from 1958 to 1987, the year of his untimely death. Consisting of a gold medal created by the Faenza-born sculptor Carlo Zauli, this award is assigned to an entrepreneur, manager, technician or researcher who has made a significant contribution to the development of the ceramic industry. This year the award goes to Cavaliere Filippo Marazzi, President of the Ceramiche Marazzi Group “for his exceptional contribution to the diffusion of ceramic products throughout the world and the entrepreneurial farsightedness that has, on numerous and crucial occasions, allowed him to anticipate technical innovations and stay one step ahead of the globalisation of production”. The prize shall be awarded on 30th September at 12.00 as part of the CerSaie 2003 opening convention, in the Europa room in Bologna’s Palazzo dei Congressi (Congress Hall).
