Another new kiln put in production

Installation and start-up of the new single layer roller kiln purchased by Tognana Porcellane spa was completed. Thanks to the simplicity of the kiln’s design, the installers have been able to heat, test and bring it up to production speed without any problems or difficulties whatsoever. The flexibility and versatility of the TKA 250/58.8 allow the user to make modifications to the firing curve quickly, thus allowing fast change-over from one product type to another - and fast customer satisfaction too. As the following paragraph illustrates, such cutting-edge properties and performance make this roller kiln ideal for a company such as Tognana. Tognana Porcellane spa had already bought a kiln, just one year ago. In the light of the expected – and substantial - increase in output, the company decided to make a further investment in the technology and attention to detail that characterise all Sacmi Forni products. For example, with tableware, consistent product quality is a must. It is therefore vital that products are not contaminated by powders, metallic particles or dirt during firing, as the end result could be product declassification. With an output of 40 million pieces per year, of which 30% is exported to over 40 countries worldwide, Tognana Porcellane spa is one of Italy’s biggest household and hotel tableware producers. Based in Casier (TV), the company provides work for 400 people, of whom 100 work in ancillary enterprises. Total annual sales come to around ITL 50 billion and the company now has two plants in Treviso, one of which is dedicated to logistics. Founded in 1946, the present company switched from majolica to porcelain manufacturing in 1956. Its products are made using traditional firing, sintering and vitrification systems.
