Tsunami, Sacmi contributes to the relief program

Employees donate an hour’s pay to victims of the tsunami disaster

Like many others, Sacmi Imola has been quick to respond to the plight of people in South-East Asia whose lives have been devastated by the tsunami. Numerous employees have decided to donate an hour’s wages and the company as a whole, as stated by company President Olivieri on the national TG3 news program, will devolve a further sum.
The initiative was embraced by the entire workforce, deeming it “opportune and cooperative in spirit”.
“The aim”, explained Olivieri, “ is to get help to the people who were stuck by this end-of-2004 cataclysm”. Also going into the South East Asia emergency funds will be the proceeds from the traditional Christmas polenta fest. To ensure the aid gets where it is needed, Sacmi is currently looking into the idea of forming a partnership with Aci, (Alleanza cooperativa internazionale) yet is also considering use of two of its own facilities plants, one in Singapore and the other in Indonesia: about thirty people work here, all safe from the effects of the disaster, fortunately.
