With the latest products evolution… CONTINUA is going on

Innovative Sacmi ceramic technology presented at Tecnargilla

The recent introduction of continuous pre-compaction technology, during Tecnargilla, highlighted how CONTINUA allows producers to overcome the limits of traditional technical ceramic decoration methods. This is thanks to the fact that many of the achieved effects are not ‘as they come’, as happened in the two-stage filling process for example, but, rather, precision-set by computer so as to provide repeatable decoration ‘recipes’ that can be recalled at any time. It is also possible to adjust the recipes that control the powder filling sequence so as to ‘spread’ repetition of the same effect over time and, therefore, always achieve a heterogeneous surface that best matches the general colour of the unfinished tile.
By varying the powder deposit sequence and moving the surface it is possible to reproduce a whole series of effects normally associated with natural stone:
- stratification
-i nclusions
-s peckles/flecks
- haloes etc.
Since the recently-held Tecnargilla event Sacmi has been establishing ever-closer ties with key suppliers of semi-finished products, glazes and pigments etc. The fruits of this ongoing teamwork will also be on show at the forthcoming Cevisama, to be held in Valencia (Spain) from 6th to 10th February 2007.
