Nowadays, consumers claim for more guarantees on all the aspects that make up foodstuff quality. In the fruit and vegetable industry, the modern retail trade requires a standardized and consumer-recognizable level of quality. There is a system available, developed by SACMI IMOLA that can check and guarantee, on a non-destructive basis, such quality criteria. The F5 system, thanks to the NIR (Near Infra-Red) technology, can check quality pre-set standard parameters such as Brix/sugar contents, acidity, water core, brown core, ripeness, on every single fruit; this way, the market is given with products having a consistent quality thus ensuring that consumer expectations of brand names and retail outlets are maintained. This event is a good chance for verifying the results that have been achieved after the initial experience of the F5 system on the market.
