Advanced Ceramics Technology on show in Shanghai

The Sacmi Group takes part at Ace 2007 with its special TEAM Division

Shanghai’s “Ace” exhibition represents one of the most important international events in the field of advanced ceramics. The show, which was held in the Chinese metropolis from 23 to 25 October, is entirely dedicated to advanced ceramics  - materials which are finding more and more applications, not just in micro-electronics, communication and information technology as well as sensor technology, but also in the energy sector and the automobile, automatic machine and aerospace industries.

Ace was therefore the perfect showcase for TEAM (Technology and Experience for Advanced Materials) – the Sacmi Group’s brand new specially formed Division dedicated to advanced ceramics including technical ceramics. The Team Division, which exhibited at stand A128, combines the expertise, innovation and technology of Sacmi Imola (body preparation, engineering, financial loans), with the know-how provided by other companies within the Group such as Sama (forming technologies such as extrusion, pressure-casting, band casting and automation), Laeis (material and process development, hydraulic pressing technology) and Riedhammer (drying and firing technologies).

By coordinating the activities of the different companies within the Group which produce complete systems, Team offers customers added value by providing better delivery options and improved service all under one umbrella. From the preparation of raw materials to forming and firing – with accurate quality control at every stage of the process – Team is able to create synergies in the production processes for all the very latest ceramic technologies. According to the Institute of Ceramics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (organizers of Ace 2007) this exciting new sector is already worth several billions of dollars with further future growth prospects due to the rapid technological development taking place in many countries around the world, starting with China itself.

All of which makes the requests for industrial partnership we are receiving from the Asian tiger even more inviting and our participation at the Shanghai event all the more useful and important. The Ace exhibition was specially conceived to highlight the current state of the advanced ceramics sector today and to promote business to business relations. Clearly an opportunity not to be missed for Team  - a new division with a modern approach which allows its own customers access to its specialized Research & Development laboratories in order to optimize the advanced ceramic production process.
