Al Anwar focuses on leadership with Sacmi

Further expansion of the Oman-based giant for the production of wall tiles, floor tiles and trims.

Major Middle Eastern tile producer Al Anwar Ceramic has signed an agreement with Sacmi for further expansion of its production facilities.

This latest unit, to be built next to the existing plant, is expected to start producing by the end of 2011; it employs tried and tested technical solutions, but this time on a larger scale. The line, in fact, consists of two PH2090 presses, suitable for the infeed of dry-ground powders, a 5-layers 16.8-metre long EM5 drier equipped with devices designed to optimise energy consumption and, the rear jewel in the crown, a new 140.7 metre long twin-channel FBN kiln with a 2850 mm wide infeed. This kiln is right at the top of the dual-channel range, providing cutting-edge energy saving devices that combine maximum performance in terms of quality and output capacity with maximum energy and natural gas savings.

The plant will be able to produce red body tiles for both floor and wall coverings, boosting the existing output capacity by a further 4 million m2/year.

The new production plant will also be accompanied by an expansion of the existing third firing and trim plant; finalised with Sacmi as part of the same agreement, this project will make the Oman plant the biggest of its type in the Middle East.

Al Anwar, together with Sacmi, has succeeded in becoming stronger and more competitive. Their market position has received an important boost and their goal of becoming an exemplary ceramic firm for the Middle East and beyond is now much nearer.
