At Ilca firing is “made in Sacmi”

SSK shuttle kiln features a controlled active cooling system

The new Sacmi-designed SSK sanitaryware shuttle kiln is now up and running at Ilca in Civita Castellana (Globo Group). With a capacity of sixty-three cubic metres, it represents the pinnacle of excellence in sanitaryware firing technology.
The machine features a controlled active cooling system consisting of blower columns; these transform the “passive” stage – a standard aspect on machines of this type – into an active one, thus allowing control of the entire cooling process.
Control of the entire firing process is made possible by programmable logic controllers (Plc) and supervisor computers. Homogeneity is guaranteed by the special architecture of the combustion system and on-machine electronic controls.
Compliance with standards concerning the use of ceramic fibre – not to mention reduced maintenance requirements – is ensured by a cordierite lining and specially selected materials.
