Ceramica San Nicola

Sacmi wins another important order in Southern Italy

Vincenzo D Introno, who for years has been on the ceramic market with Cer. BASE, located in the city of Corato (BA), has now placed a substantial important order for a new, highly innovative SACMI plant that will become CERAMICA SAN NICOLA. This initiative, the only one of its kind in the region of Puglia, is set to become the most important production plant in Southern Italy. The significance of the investment is linked to the fact that Corato will afterwards be able to expand as a “hub” of ceramic industry development. The new plant will constitute an important supply source of spray-dried powders for various types of output and will thus provide major advantages for local ceramic manufacturers. The plant will therefore be equipped – as regards the supply of spray dried powders – with 1 continuous 70,000-litre mill; another mill of the same size will be used by the San Nicola ceramic plant to produce porcelain tiles. The plant will also be equipped with discontinuous mills and all the other machinery needed to produce coloured powders. Downstream, there will be four PH3590 presses, each equipped with double-action filler boxes (MDR and ACD/Sacmi). As these are easily interchangeable, the plant will be able to produce full body and/or glazed tiles. The 4 presses will channel the tiles into four EVA992 driers and they will subsequently be fired in two FMS250/88.2 m porcelain tile kilns. The plant is expected to become operative at the end of 2002, with an initial porcelain tile output capacity of 12,000 m²/day. The building that will house the plant is illustrated in the attachment. So, a new challenge for Vincenzo D Introno: Sacmi wishes him every success and thanks and congratulates him for choosing our products.
