Ceramica del Norte chooses Sacmi and “triples” output

From 2013 a third brick production line will be up and running at the Salta plant

Argentine company Ceramica del Norte, a well-known brick maker based in the city of Salta in the country’s North-West, has chosen Sacmi Heavy Clay to provide the systems for its new hollow brick, load-bearing brick and loft/floor brick production line. The new plant – which raises the number of production lines at the facility from two to three – will have a daily output capacity of 400 tons of fired product.

The plant consists of a semi-continuous tunnel drier and a 4-section kiln (also of the tunnel-type) 140 metres long. Highly automated, it features a wet product cutting and loading system designed and built by Gaiotto, the Sacmi Group company specialising in industrial automation. Handling of load pallets and unloading of cars from the drier are also fully automated, as is the 4-head stacker and the fired product unloading tasks, carried out by a flexible 2-head pallet completion system.

All solutions have been designed to provide maximum output flexibility while ensuring optimal user-friendliness: this has been achieved thanks to the very latest software, which keeps every single stage of the production process under tight control. The new production line– expected to become operative at the start of 2013 – will ensure Ceramica Del Norte is able to respond effectively to the growing demand for construction material that is being fuelled by an expanding local tourist industry.
