Cersaie closes an encouraging 13th edition

Ceramic reconfirms its status as the material of the moment. Visitors to the five-day event up by 4.2%.

This 13th edition of the building ceramic and bathroom furnishing show attracted 4.2% more visitors than last year. Foreigners accounted for 28% of the total, confirming the international nature of both this Italian trade fair and ceramic itself, now seen by experts as a key material for the building industry.
Spread over 156,000 square metres of floor space, more than one thousand companies (1,030 to be precise) displayed their wares at the 5-day event. Two hundred and four companies came from abroad, representing 32 different countries. There was an intense program of events, which included the inaugural convention, the international press conference, the Markitecture, values in Architecture initiative and technical seminars.
More specifically, in 2005 the number of visitors rose from last year’s 84,983 to 88,522 at this 2005 edition. The number of accredited journalists was also up, from 573 to 580, 44.6% of them from overseas. Among the shows organised in the Cersaie Village: Cumulus, which focussed on ceramic prototypes made by the students of European design and art schools, a Ceramic and Urban Re-planning competition regarding five Italian squares, and the Futuro Remoto exhibition illustrating the history of the tile in the Sassuolo and Imola districts. The following edition of Cersaie will be held - once again at the Bologna Trade Fair - from 26th to 30th September 2006 and will overlap with the biennial Tecnargilla fair, to take place from 28th September to 2nd October 2006 at the Rimini trade fair centre.
