It might be spelt AVM, but what it really stands for is efficiency, productivity and energy savings. Now, two firms from the Civita Castellana ceramic district have chosen to invest in innovative machines produced by Niv Verona, a Sacmi Group company specialising in the design and construction of casting machines for the production of sanitaryware articles.
Two AVMs were recently installed at Unoceramica and are currently going through the start-up process. Another two machines, delivered to Gruppo Sanitari Italia (Gsi) last year, are now fully operative and join others purchased three years ago by the same company – clear confirmation of the outstanding advantages that the technology in these machines offers producers.
Single-mould machines for high pressure casting, AVMs require less space than their medium-low pressure counterparts. And space savings mean energy savings (smaller volumes to be heated etc.). So, higher finished product quality, thanks to utilisation of high pressure technology – and a product that requires fewer finishing operations, thus yielding further savings in the form of reduced manpower requirements.
Finally, a detail that is far from unimportant. About a year ago plaster, used to produce items at ambient pressure, became ‘special waste’. According to the laws in force, it must therefore be disposed of in special facilities, raising disposal costs significantly. Yet another reason, then, to choose Sacmi’s resin moulds, which have a working life of between 20 thousand and 100 thousand castings, while traditional plaster moulds have to be disposed of after 70-80 castings at most.
