The “Building Materials” Division of the Eczacıbaşı Group has recently opened a new ceramic sanitaryware production plant “Vitra Santeknika” in the city of Serpukhov, 100 km south of Moscow.
This is the tenth Division’s plant set up by Eczacıbaşı outside Turkey.
Following the successful collaboration on the tile production plant at Vitra Plitka (capacity of 3.2 million sq.m/year of tiles) which consists entirely of Sacmi machines and was started up in 2011 in the same Russian industrial area, Sacmi was again chosen as supplier for the glazing lines, driers and shuttle kiln at the new sanitaryware factory (with production capacity of 250.000 pieces/year).
The production mix at Vitra Santeknika includes a percentage of large-sized WCs (wall-hung and back-to-wall) which is close to 50% and therefore a much higher proportion than standard thus resulting in a more complicated production process.
Two Gaiotto glazing lines are each provided with a GA 2000 9-axis glazing robot with integrated mass control system ensuring that the quality of the products made at VitrA Santeknika matches the high expectations of the Russian market.
Piece drying is performed by four Sacmi KSD 28/14 chamber driers having a capacity of 14 cars and 2 drying cycles per day thanks to a work cycle lasting under 12 hours. One of the driers also has the flexibility to be used also for plaster mould drying if required.
In addition, the supply also included a Riedhammer shuttle kiln mod. HWS 18/500/140-G FL with working volume of 126m3 to reach a capacity of 860 pieces per cycle.
The cycle time of 17 hours for the first firing and 19 hours for re-firing enables 9 weekly workcycles to be carried out with a highly satisfactory result in terms of the surface quality of the finished product.
The “Building Materials” Division of the Eczacıbaşı Group exports its Vitra brand products to more than 75 countries all over the world. On the Russian market the Vitra brand is now available in more than 1000 sales outlets throughout the country.
