Flaminia focuses on Vitreous China with Sacmi

The Civita Castellana-based company has begun using a Sacmi Forni STK kiln

A tunnel kiln for the firing and re-firing of sanitaryware articles plus relative in-line drier have been started up successfully at the Flaminia plant in Civita Castellana. Featuring smooth, geometric styling, this new washbasin line with the very latest Sacmi technology opens up yet another chapter in the illustrious history of Flaminia, a company that has always stood out as an industry trend-setter. To fire those complex pieces on which errors are inadmissible, Flaminia has decided on an STK tunnel kiln designed and built by Sacmi Forni.
Most experts will tell you that heavy washbasins (26 Kg), consoles (35 Kg) and large articles in general (83 x 50 cm) usually require the use of Fine Fire Clay. Flaminia, instead, has opted for Vitreous China. Producing such articles is something of a challenge – a challenge that has been won thanks to the employment of a Sacmi kiln and in-line drier.
Featuring an infeed width of 3400 mm and an effective load height of 1000 mm, the STK performs both firing and simultaneous re-firing with the same temperature curve. Moreover, a special device which improves uniformity of temperature during pre-heating - a crucial factor in sanitaryware production - has been installed. To reduce fuel consumption, hot air is drawn off from the cooling section for re-utilisation in the SFD drier and introduction into the combustion air circuit. The expected output rate is 1060 pieces/day.
