GRES CERAMIKA (Poland): a new plant for the production of stoneware

The new Gres Ceramika group enters onto the Polish tile market with an ultra-modern plant specially designed for the manufacture of porcelained stoneware. This plant, employing the latest SACMI technology, is currently going though start-up and full-scale production is expected to begin in February/March 2001. The plant was inaugurated on 19th January 2001, the same date on which production of the first line of porcelained stoneware began: the splendid and highly original inauguration ceremony was attended by important national and local authorities as well as key representatives from other Polish ceramic companies. The plant is situated in Konskie, close to an existing line producing wall tiles. The new plant consists of a continuous grinding and spray-drying department and two autonomous pressing, drying, glazing, firing and sorting lines capable of producing a total of up to 4 million m² of high quality porcelained stoneware per year.
