Icasa concludes new agreement with Sacmi

New automatic glazing line with a Gaiotto GA2000 robot supplied.

Icasa, founded in 1973 (the 40th anniversary will be in October 2013), is one of South America’s most renowned ceramic companies. Its main headquarters is located in Andradas, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.

ICASA recently signed an agreement with the Sacmi Group for the supply of a new automatic glazing line with a Gaiotto GA 2000 robot.
The new line very soon became fully operative, some two months after assembly work began; after successful testing at the end of February, it immediately yielded excellent results, the customer being particularly pleased with the user-friendly programming and the ability to use spraying programmes immediately.

The new glazing line, which guarantees an output of some 1,000 pieces per day, consists of a 4-station turret with an 8-axis Gaiotto GA2000 robot interfaced with the glaze feed control system; the latter allows the user to personalise spraying parameters (glaze feed rate, nozzle aperture, spray particle size) to suit the various piece models. To complete the line ICASA also took delivery of an automatic piece foot cleaning system and two conveying systems that ensure automatic piece loading/unloading at the 4-position turret; this is achieved via an electric 3-axis angular transfer unit featuring encoder control of the various working positions, a safety limit switch and inverter-controlled handling via the integrated production centre PLC.

The integrated production centre is interfaced with the Ethernet, through which the Gaiotto assistance service is provided.
