Austrian group Lasselsberger Ceramics, one of Europe’s leading ceramic manufacturers with production plants in four European countries has, this year, launched a major investment plan to boost floor and wall tile output significantly.
For the Sanex plant in Cluj, Rumania, Sacmi was chosen to supply a complete line covering everything from body preparation to sorting that would ensure an output of 4.4 million square meters of glazed porcelain floor tiles. The main machines for this plant are a modular MMC074 mill, an ATM90 spray dryer, two PH3020 presses, a twin-channel kiln, plus two new sorting lines provided by Nuova Fima (the Group brand specializing in end-of-line solutions) that feature automatic Flawmaster vision systems. In configuring the new line considerable effort has also gone into reducing specific fuel consumption to minimize environmental impact.
For its Rako 3 plant in the Czech Republic, the Austrian group commissioned Sacmi to supply a new twin-channel kiln complete with feed and offloading machines, plus two new Nuova Fima sorting lines, both with automatic Flawmaster vision systems: this will boost annual white body wall tile output by over 4.5 million square meters. Moreover, body production capacity has been increased thanks to the supply of a new continuous mill and new spray dryer. Lastly, three new press-dryer lines are currently being shipped to renew the pressing department.
By pursuing a far-sighted branding/sales strategy in Western and Eastern Europe, the Lasselsberger Group has, in recent years, successfully reinforced its already outstanding expertise in residential, architectural and industrial ceramics and has chosen, with Sacmi, to achieve ambitious productivity and efficiency goals by making two key investments that will increase the product portfolio and strengthen the market position.
