Leading role for technical ceramic at Indian Ceramics 2008

Sacmi on a mission to one of the world ceramic industry’s most dynamic markets

India is the world’s second-largest market after China. A country that boasts double-figure growth rates and represents a not-to-be-missed opportunity for European industry, ceramics included. And it’s the protagonists of the ceramic industry who will be getting together at Mumbai – from 11th to 13th March – at the Indian Ceramics fair.

The venue for the event – which, following the success of the last two editions, has become the reference point for the Indian ceramic market – is the Bombay Exhibition Centre of Mumbai where Sacmi will be present on a large stand (P01/02) with its Ceramics&Tiles and Whiteware Divisions sales staff. That means triple the space that was available last year and it will also be hosting – and this is the main difference with respect to previous editions – Team (Technology and Experience for Advanced Materials), the technical ceramic division with the respective Team partner companies: Laeis, Riedhammer, Sama, Alpha, Sacmi Imola and Gaiotto. The best, then, of everything the Sacmi Group has to offer in terms of special and technical ceramics.

The backdrop to the event is, of course, India’s booming economy. Those in the know expect, in ceramics and manufacturing in general, that India will “overtake” China within the next five years: for the ceramic industry constant growth rates in the order of 20% are expected – offering immense business opportunities for technology providers such as Sacmi. That growth rate runs parallel to the Indian market’s own burgeoning demand for quality floor and wall tiles and whiteware, which is also performing well on the Asian market.

One of the most dynamic markets in the world, then, which hinges on the production district of Gujarat yet can also count on output from other areas throughout the country and neighbouring states. India, more and more, requires high-automation integrated solutions as opposed to individual machines and needs skilled partner groups such as Sacmi to achieve development and growth.
